Meet longtime medication tech Linda Adams, just one member of our outstanding staff

Less paperwork. More people work.

That's why Linda Adams has stayed with her job as a certified medication technician for so long. With more than 25 years at Rolla Presbyterian Manor, Linda is one of our longest serving employees and is beloved by our residents.

Every spring, we honor our hard-working nursing staff by participating in two recognition events that are observed nationwide. In May we celebrated National Nurses Week, with the theme of

“Nursing: the Balance of Mind, Body, and Spirit.” This month we observe the 40th annual National Nursing Assistants Week, which kicks off June 15 with National Career Nursing Assistants Day. The theme for this month's celebration is “Nursing Assistants – I Choose Respect.”

We see staff members like Linda live out these themes every day. She has worked in long-term care since she was 14; her first job was activity assistant for a nursing home. Soon, she became a nurse's aide and came to work at Presbyterian Manor. Before long, she said, her supervisors sent her to classes to become a medication technician.

Helping our employees advance in their skills and education is a priority for Presbyterian Manors, and Linda was grateful for the opportunity. She considered going further, and she took some medical assistant courses. But ultimately Linda said she enjoyed her work as a CMT so much that she didn't want to change.

"I really enjoy myself here. People tease me that this is my happy place," Linda said. "I don't just work. We have fun, the residents have fun; we tease back and forth. They get me good!"

Linda joked that she always liked working with older adults and "now I'm one of them!" She added, however, that it's rewarding work to know that she helps meet residents' needs and brightens their days.

Thank you to Linda and all of our nursing staff who live out our mission every day through their respect, compassionate service and advocacy for our residents!
